Capsular contracture

Excessive firmness can occur soon after surgery, but it may also develop years later. While it cannot be predicted, the likelihood of tightening increases over time. After 10 years, the incidence is approximately 10 to 12 percent. Capsular contracture can occur on one side or both sides and is more common when the implant is placed in front of the chest muscle. It can be treated surgically or by replacing or removing the implant. However, capsular contracture can recur even after treatment.

Roken
